River Chili

This recipe has been in our family for generations. Enjoy an authentic, Texas twist on a classic dish. From our home to yours, with love. 


  • ​4 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons chili powde
  • 2 cans tomatoes with green chilis
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt to taste

Recipe Notes

Combine meat, onion and garlic in a large heavy boiler or skillet. Sear until lightly colored. Add oregano, cumin, chili powder, salt, tomatoes and water. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for about one hour.
